Capt. KJH Christie: ERP in a shipyard: We are in the process of implementing SAP in our shipyard and are moving into the final stages. Naturally there are many questions that come up. We have a few departments, some of them having independent business, but connected to a common finance and personal division. Is it a good move to go live at the same time for all departments? How long it takes for the change over to stabilze fully? Is there anyone out there who have gone through this experience with respect to a shipyard and who could share the views in general terms?
We are confident of resolving the issues and overcoming the unknown hurdles. However any suggestions, inputs on how to manage this huge change in operation from people who have gone through similar experience would be of immense help.
